The name “Alioup” is inspired by the dynamic energy of an “assist” — a pivotal moment when timing, alignment, and trust come together to create something powerful. Specifically, it traces its roots to the French phrase allez-hop, shouted by circus acrobats as they leapt into motion: “Off you go” or “Go on up.”
From that origin, it became part of American sports history:
To begin with, in 1950s football, the San Francisco 49ers used the term for high-arching passes to leaping receivers.
Next, in basketball, it evolved into the iconic move where one player lobs the ball to another mid-air — the alley-oop — a move that symbolizes trust, timing, and connection.
Finally, even in pop culture, the phrase was known from the 1930s comic strip Alley Oop.
